Cougar attack on toddler - Vancouver Island, Canada (29 Aug 2011)
An 18 month old toddler was the victim of a cougar attack. The attack occurred about 6 pm, while the family was at a popular beach at Kennedy Lake, near the Pacific Rim National Park on Vancouver Island.

Luckily, the family acted quickly to scare off the animal. Still, the child is recovering from surgery required due to the cougar attack.
Park officials are searching for the animal.
CBC reports that "Officials say a wolf and cougar advisory has been in effect in the area since Aug. 13 because of a "recent increase in carnivore activity in the area."
